Mr. Bonginkosi Shongwe is a professional nurse working as a Deputy Director Nursing Compliance and Research at the Gauteng Department of Health (Head Office). He Obtained a Diploma in Nursing (General, Psychiatric, Community and Midwifery) from the Chris Hani Baragwanath Nursing College in 2006 and completed the BCur Nursing Education and Administration degree in 2011 at University of Johannesburg. Mr. Shongwe further holds a clinical speciality qualification in Critical Care Nursing and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Management from the University of Cape Town (2018) and an MCur Degree (Master of Nursing Management and Ethos) with the University of Johannesburg (2023).
Mr. Shongwe started his career as a Professional Nurse at the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child hospital from 2007 until 2016. He served as Assistant Director for Gauteng Department of Health Health (GDoH) at the Head Office in the Directorate Quality Assurance Clinical Audit and Serious Adverse Events Management from March 2016 until February 2017. He then moved to the Directorate Nursing Practice (GDoH) to work as an Assistant Manager Nursing from 1st March 2017 until 31st October 2017. He is currently working for as Manager Nursing (Deputy Director) in the Directorate Nursing Compliance and Research (GDoH).
