Dr Atiya Mosam

Public Health Medicine Specialist

Dr Atiya Mosam is a medical doctor who graduated in 2007 from the University of the Witwatersrand. She worked in clinical care and management in the public sector primary care system before joining the Wits University School of Public Health in 2015, where she is an honorary lecturer.  She holds a Masters of Public Health (Policy and Management) and a Masters Of Medicine (Community Health).

She serves on various executive committees, including as Secretary of the Public Health Association of South Africa, and Atiya is on the Steering Committee and Technical Working Group for the WHO Roadmap for the Public Health and Emergency Workforce.

She has 12 years of experience in health system strengthening initiatives, from national policy development to health management and implementation of interventions, with a focus on primary health care initiatives, and she holds an interest in healthcare financing and economics, health promotion and prevention for non-communicable diseases and human resources for health.
