Dr Louis Van Der Hoven was born and educated in Pretoria RSA. He was awarded his MB.ChB From the University of Pretoria in 2002. He did his internship at Tygerberg Academic Hospital until 2003, and continued his interest in clinical research completing a fellowship in clinical research from the Royal Liverpool Academy in 2015. He completed his GMC (United Kingdom) in 2005.

He spent time reporting to the CEO of Takeda South Africa, a Japanese company specialising in pharmaceuticals.

He was appointed the Medical Director of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, a leading multinational pharmaceutical company from 2013 to 2016.

He was then appointed the Hospital General Manager for the Netcare Linksfield and Linkwood hospitals from 2016 to 2021. Although founded on orthopaedics and the surgical disciplines, this hospital was grown into represent all major specialties under Louis van der Hoven’s management.

He was appointed the Hospital General Manager to the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital in 2021, and then became the Netcare Regional Manager for the Provence of the Western Cape for their major Netcare Hospitals (UCT Academic, Kuilsriver Hospital, N1 Hospital, Blaauberg Hospital and CBMH/Foreshore Hospital).

Louis continues in this important pivotal role.
