Musa holds a B.Com degree in Accounting Sciences from UKZN, as well as a B.Com Honours from UNISA, with SAICA articles completed through Deloitte. He is registered as an Associate General Accountant (AGA(SA)) with SAICA. He holds a post-graduate diploma, through the LHC/GIBS Senior Management Development Program.
Musa has 12 years’ experience in senior management roles at various hospitals, including 9 years’ experience as a Hospital Manager. He is currently managing a hospital complex in East London, where he has directly overseen a large capital project and steered the hospital through the addition of new competitors in the market.
In previous roles, has opened an Oncology and Day Hospital in Northern KZN, and implemented a Public Private Partnership with the KZN Department of Health to provide oncology services to their patients. Musa has a good understanding of socio-economic factors affecting hospital operations and believes in placing hospitals as an integral part of the communities which they serve. His biggest challenge was steering the COVID response of a private hospital in the south of Durban serving a community of near 200 000 residents, where engagement and collaboration with various community stakeholders was key to overcoming that challenge.
