The Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) envision creating a skilled workforce to meet the health and social development needs of all South Africans.
The Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) is one of South Africa’s Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), mandated to support education, training, and skills development in the health, social development, and veterinary sectors. Its role is to identify sector skills needs, develop and implement Sector Skills Plans, fund learnerships, internships, bursaries, and workplace-based learning programmes, and promote workforce development. HWSETA also monitors training quality, facilitates stakeholder partnerships, disburses skills development levies and grants, and supports the National Skills Development Strategy. Through these initiatives, HWSETA contributes to a skilled workforce capable of delivering quality health and social services while advancing employment, transformation, and economic growth in South Africa.
